Proper Unloading Procedures

Our stalls are shipped by commercial trucks. There may be times when the trucking company or the trucker is unfamiliar with transporting our stalls.
It is advisable to use a forklift to unload the stalls; however, there may be times when this is not feasible and physical unloading of the stalls is necessary.
As an effort to ensure the 'safe' delivery of your
stalls we have prepared the following recommendations:
Recommended Unloading Procedure(s):
When your stalls arrive they will be standing vertically on the truck, secured with boomers and chains. There could also be a bundle of pipe pieces for the roof system banded to the top of a bundle of stalls.
Unloading With A Forklift:
DO NOT allow the trucker to loosen the chains securing the stalls until the forklift is in position. If there is more than one bundle of stalls, always ensure the remaining bundles on the truck are secured with the boomers and chains prior to removing each bundle.
Once each bundle of stalls is lowered onto the ground, it is very important that you lean them against something (a power pole, tree, fencepost, building, etc) prior to cutting the banding.
Use extreme caution when cutting the banding as it is under a great deal of tension; turn your head away, step to the side and always be alert of the possibility of the banding whipping around.
Always be aware that the stalls and especially the pipes may shift position rapidly when the banding is cut.
Unloading Without A Forklift:
It is possible to offload without a forklift, but difficult. If this is necessary, be sure to make full use of the chains, and only take away one panel at a time, making sure the rest of the bundle is secured with the chains while you are lowering the panel to the ground. If there is a bundle of pipes on top of the stalls, it is possible to cut some of the banding securing the pipes, and still have them contained by other bands on top of the bundle of panels. You can then pull out the pipes one by one to get them to the ground safely.
Always Remember ...SAFETY FIRST!
